Elephant Hills Achieves 5 Stars and Perfect Score in 17/17 Criteria for Sustainable Tourism Award
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is running the Sustainable Tourism Acceleration Rating (STAR) project to meet sustainable tourism goals. Elephant Hills has excelled in all 17 criteria
and received a 5-star rating for its commitment to sustainable tourism.
This accomplishment not only showcases Elephant Hills as a model for sustainability but also strengthens Thailand’s global image as a secure and eco-friendly travel destination.
The Sustainable Tourism Acceleration Rating (STAR) project evaluates participants based on 17 criteria:
Reduce Income Inequality
Reduce income inequality through the distribution of income from tourism within local communities
Sustainable Food Systems
Promote sustainable food systems within the tourism industry: from local sourcing to food waste management
Good health and wellbeing
Facilitate tourism that fosters improved health, well-being, and quality of life for people of all ages ensuring their safety and overall welfare
Education for sustainable tourism
Strengthen education for sustainable tourism: promoting enduring comprehension and essential skills to drive the tourism sector
Gender Equality
Foster gender equality within all tourism-related businesses
Clean Water Solutions
Create resilient mechanisms to promote access to clean water, effective water management, and sustainable sanitation in tourist destinations

Enhance accessibility and improve the efficiency of clean energy utilization in the tourism sector
