International Elephant Conservation & Research Symposium: A Global Commitment 1

This bi-annual symposium focuses on the research and conservation needs of both captive and wild elephant populations. Researchers from around the world convene to discuss a spectrum of topics, including elephant field conservation, human-elephant conflict, captive management, health, nutrition, reproduction, and behavior.

The symposium has traversed various locations over the years, including Texas, USA in 2005, Copenhagen, Denmark in 2006, Rotterdam, Netherlands in 2011, Pennsylvania, USA in 2013, Singapore in 2016, South Africa in 2019, and the Virtual Symposium in 2021. This year, the event gathers in Chiang Mai, Thailand, continuing the commitment to advancing global elephant research and conservation.

Upholding Global Elephant Research and Conservation from Elephant Hills

Elephant Hills proudly participated in The 19th International Elephant Conservation & Research Symposium at the Empress Hotel Chiang Mai from November 14-17, 2023. We are honored to have sponsored this conference.

Jointly organized by the International Elephant Foundation, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Chiang Mai University, the National Elephant Institute, and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Kasetsart University, this symposium addresses the escalating threats to wild elephant populations due to habitat loss and increasing human-elephant conflicts.

Conservationists and researchers worldwide are rallying to safeguard the remaining elephants and their habitats. The conference extends a warm invitation to global elephant conservationists and researchers to showcase their projects and research findings. Topics of interest include new technologies in field conservation, conflict mitigation, studies in disease, reproduction, behavior, and other factors influencing the long-term survival of African savannah, African forest, and Asian elephants.
