A new washing machine donated to student dormitory
With 147 students, Baan Phae Phittaya School is one of the biggest schools in Mae Sariang district in Mae Hong Son province. Over the past couple of years, we have been supporting the students’ food supply and donated clothes, stationery and toiletries. Our main focus has been on helping the many students who come from such a remote area that they must live in the dormitory over school terms.
The teachers, who do an amazing job caring for these students, mentioned last time that they could really use another washing machine. With 30 students regularly staying at the dormitory, their current machine simply couldn’t handle the amount of laundry. Furthermore, without a dryer it was very difficult to get the laundry dry, especially during the wet season.
Arriving at the school for our third visit, the teachers and the headmaster came to greet us with big smiles on their faces. From the conversation prior to our visit, they knew that we were about to donate a brand-new washer-dryer for the school. The teachers assembled a large number of students to join us and accept the donation.
In addition, we had also selected some “Pack with a purpose” donations from our guests. For instance, toothpaste and brushes are constantly needed in the rural northern schools, as well as clothes. We also brought some stationery and second-hand children’s books, which were much appreciated by the kids.
We would like to thank all our visitors for supporting the less privileged Thai children!
