Contributing to students’ food supply

Contributing to students’ food supply 1

Last year we introduced three schools in the Northern Province Mae Hong Son, one of them being Baan Phae Phitthaya School, located close to Mae Sariang town. During our previous visit we donated stationery and sports equipment bought with funds donated by our amazing guests. On behalf of the company we also sponsored some meals for the students. This school has nearly 150 students to feed, and one third of the students also stay in the school’s dormitories, which means that three meals are prepared daily.

With this in mind, when we had a chance to return to Baan Phae Phitthaya School, we wanted to support the students’ food supply. With the guidance from the friendly teachers, we selected the dry and canned ingredients that were most commonly used by their cooks and headed to deliver them to the school. The teachers and students had arranged a nice donation event in their assembly room, and the head master and a student representative made great speeches expressing their gratitude.

After the donation event, the head master and one of the teachers took time to show us around at the school grounds. We were very impressed by their efforts to become more self-sustainable when it comes to the food production. They were working on a remarkable gardening and animal husbandry project; they had a frog farm, catfish farm, cricket farm, mushroom farm and they grow vegetables and herbs. We also visited the dormitories, which are a home for as many as 49 students staying at the school throughout the school terms.

Baan Phae Phitthaya School is currently in need of tooth brushes, tooth paste, soap and other toiletries for the students staying overnight. Gardening equipment and seeds would also come in handy to help keep up their amazing work with the gardening project, and more food supplies and rice are also needed. Would you or your company be interested in helping the rural children in Thailand? We are currently looking for partners to work with our Children’s Project through corporate sponsorship. Please contact us at [email protected] to discuss the options!
