Helping Elephants in Need: Our Visit to Krabi Elephant Hospital 2

At Elephant Hills, we strive to take exceptional care of our elephants, and the high standard of welfare ismade possible by the tourism industry. We believe that tourism, if run in a sustainable and ethical way, isvital for the survival and well-being of Thailand’s domestic elephants. Thailand’s government-run elephanthospitals play a crucial role in any elephant camp’s efforts to improve their welfare aspects.

Helping Elephants in Need: Our Visit to Krabi Elephant Hospital 3

We recently visited Krabi Elephant Hospital to support five sick elephants with much-needed supplies. Here’s what we donated:

  • – 40 boxes of Normal Saline (NSS): Essential for cleaning wounds and trunks.
  • – 30 boxes of Lactated Ringer’s Solution (LRI): Helps with stomach issues. We donated 300 bottles, which will last about 2 days.
  • – 30 boxes of Acetate Ringer’s Solution (AR): Used for specific treatments like kidney disease.

Additionally, we brought 1.3 tons of fresh grass from our camp, cut the morning before delivery. This chemical-free grass will feed the sick elephants for about only 3 days.

Our contribution to Krabi Elephant Hospital is part of our ongoing commitment to support the recovery and care of these magnificent animals. The supplies we donated are critical for their treatment, and we are dedicated to continuing our support to ensure their health and well-being.
