At Elephant Hills, we’re committed to protecting the future of our planet, year round. In fact, our ongoing efforts to support both nature and wildlife led to us being awarded the PATA Grand Award in the Environment category for 2018.
As part of our continued commitment to being environmentally responsible, we are proud to announce our newest promotion: For EVERY booking made during April and May (through an agent or directly) of 2019, we will plant one tree.
“Mighty oaks from little acorns grow”; the sowing of a seed is a small, but vital step toward the reforestation of Thailand and your booking will directly support our work on this incredibly important project.
The Gift That Keeps On Giving
Over a period of just 40 years, Thailand lost more than half of its rainforest due to agriculture and logging. Such a dramatic shift in the country’s landscape created knock-on effects in climate, weather, pollution and of course, the animal population.
The estimated population of wild elephants in Thailand has dwindled in numbers from as high as 100,000 in the early 20th century, down to just a few thousand. Such large animals require a plentiful supply of food and wide areas to roam, however deforestation rendered large areas of the country uninhabitable to wildlife.
By re-planting these forests, we create a home not just for wild elephants such as those we’ve documented on our camera traps, but Clouded Leopards, Asian Golden Cats and so many more.
What Good Is One Tree?
We believe that many people doing small acts of good is more powerful as one large act. Your booking will not just allow one more tree to be planted in the ground, but with it all of the future benefits to the planet that it entails.
The change that can be brought about by planting “just one tree” isn’t to be underestimated. With more than half of the world’s plant, animal and insect species living within tropical rainforests, one tree can become home to hundreds of different species.
Not only do trees play a key role in keeping biodiversity thriving, but one tree can provide as much as 260 lbs of oxygen per year. With climate change and greenhouse gases causing concern around the world, there has never been a better time to plant a tree.
As well as knowing that your booking has helped to protect the future of Thailand’s wildlife, you’ll have the added pleasure of joining us in Khao Sok National Park for the trip of a lifetime.
Spend two to four days experiencing the best that Southern Thailand has to offer. Trek, canoe, and swim your days away in the beautiful rainforest before getting to meet and feed one of the inimitable Asian elephants that call this area home.
So, what are you waiting for? Time’s running out to book your very own Elephant Hills Soft Adventure Tour and do your part to ensure the future of Thailand’s stunning tropical rainforest. Call us today to discuss your booking or email us on [email protected].
