Supporting children’s education and gardening project in Mae Hong Son

Within our Children’s Project, we have delivered much-needed equipment and school supplies to several rural schools in the mountainous Mae Hong Son – the home province of many of our mahouts. We have seen many kinds of fascinating methods the schools have implemented, not only to survive, but to thrive and become more self-sustainable in these remote areas.
One of the schools that really impressed our team with their resourcefulness is Baan Sob Harn School, located next to Yuam River, not too far from Mae Sariang town. This small primary school has 30 students and four teachers. Despite its small size, the school runs a wonderful gardening and animal husbandry project, inspired by the beloved late king of Thailand.
We recently visited the school to deliver essential school supplies, including children’s books, educational toys and stationery brought from all around the world by our warm-hearted guests. We also donated vegetable seeds, sports equipment as well as food supplies.
Grateful and pleased for the much-needed donations, the children proudly led us to their vegetable garden on the river bank. Through this project the students learn how to grow vegetables and take care of fish and frog farms. The fresh produce is used in students’ daily meals, and sometimes they can even sell vegetables, fish and frogs at the local market.
On behalf of the children and teachers of Baan Sob Harn School, we would like to thank our generous guests for bringing school supplies when visiting Elephant Hills. This can truly help to improve the education of the rural children and increase their study motivation. The seeds purchased with funds donated by our guests will further support their amazing gardening initiative.
Would you like to join hands with Elephant Hills, in order to brighten the days of less privileged Thai children? We are currently looking for partners to co-operate with our Children’s Project through corporate sponsorship. Please contact us at projects@elephanthills.com to discuss the options!
