Elephant Hills Children’s Project was proud to help sponsoring the trip for the skillful students. They traveled all the way to the capital to compete in national level for the first time in the school’s history. The teacher was very excited to share the news after the competition; Baan Yaplong School had reached 5th place in students’ basket weaving! To even have a chance to take part in this respected competition and travel to Bangkok was a dream come true to the students, but they were extremely happy to return with such a brilliant outcome.
We are very pleased to have been able to contribute to the traditional craftsmanship in Khao Sok area through our Children’s Project. We believe that this will further encourage the local children to appreciate these ancient skills and keep learning them from their grandparents. With the donations made by our wonderful visitors, we can help the local schools and communities to cherish the abundance of natural material and ensure that the techniques of turning it into beautiful and useful handicrafts continue to be passed down through generations.
