Donation at Baan Khao Thep Pitak School
Within our Children’s Project we support altogether six rural schools in Khao Sok area, where we also have two resorts and operate nature tours in one of the world’s oldest rainforests. Baan Khao Thep Pitak School is located very close to the Cheow Larn Lake pier where the guests embark on a scenic longtail boat ride to our floating Rainforest Camp.
This is the first school established in the Cheow Larn area in 1929, way before the Rajjaprabha Dam was built and the magnificent rainforest area declared a National Park. Baan Khao Thep Pitak School has 158 students attending, taught by 13 teachers. Like many rural schools in Thailand, this school is in need of support to further improve their facilities and upgrade various equipment, enabling the dedicated teachers to keep relentlessly promoting the quality of education.
The friendly teachers and students gave us the warmest welcome to the school when we arrived with our team. This time we delivered various kinds of essential stationery and art supplies that have been brought to Elephant Hills by our wonderful guests from all around the world. You could instantly see the sparkle of excitement in the kids’ eyes when they came to explore the colorful items!
Ahead of any donation events we contact the schools to see what kind of needs they have particularly at the time. Baan Khao Thep Pitak School’s headmaster mentioned that they could really use some long tables for the computer room to replace the broken ones. With over 150 students, all kinds of sports equipment also always come in handy to keep the kids active and having fun during their breaks and sports classes.
A generous donation from our dear guests enabled us to respond to this specific request and we bought 4 large foldable tables and footballs for the school. The kids didn’t need much encouragement and instantly after being handed the footballs, ran to the nearby field to play. They were quickly joined by the fun-loving Elephant Hills team members for a cheerful moment in the sun.
