School uniforms for the less fortunate students

Thanks to yet another successful Children’s Project co-operation with one of our overseas partners, we were able to help some of the poorest students attending Wat Tham Wararam School in Khao Sok. Tischler Reisen, a German travel agency generously sponsored two sets of school uniforms and stationery for over 20 students!

Elephant Hills Children’s Project team was pleased to handle facilitating the donation. We discussed with the teachers to find out which students were in most desperate need of new uniforms. After checking the students’ sizes and buying the uniform sets, we were thrilled to deliver them to their new owners. Wat Tham Wararam School is located in Khao Sok area, just a couple of minutes’ drive from our elephant camp. Many of our staff were eager to join and were happy to see the joy and pride on the children’s faces after finally being able to wear brand new shirts, trousers or skirts and shoes.

In Thailand, the primary and secondary education in government schools is free, but the costs for the families occur in a form of school uniforms and stationery. For some of the poorest families sending the children to school rather than having them help with the household or plantation work can be a hard choice as it is, let alone finding funds for the uniform and stationery. The students queued up for the donations patiently and their smiles instantly grew wide after being told that they can change into their brand new uniforms straight away.

Thank you Tischler Reisen for giving hope and motivation for some of the less fortunate Thai children!

We are currently looking for partners to help us to support this and other schools in need. If you or your company would be interested, please contact us at projects@elephanthills.com.
